Ronald Reng on the life & death of goalkeeper Robert Enke

Sports journalist Ronald Reng was a friend of the former German International goalkeeper who took his own life after years suffering from clinical depression. The book won the William Hill Sports Book of the Year award in 2011 – and deservedly so.  This may be a sports book you missed. One that passed you by. Enke was a talented footballer, surrounded by a loving family. But none of this could save him from an illness Sir Winston Churchill called his „black dog.“
